 I pass Johnny's farm almost every day on my walk. Sadly Johnny has passed recently but his memory remains.

Plein air painting opportunities have been few and far between this July. This oil sketch indicates the leaden skies we have been having lately. (Even the cattle are fed up) .

Castletown mill & bridge in May

The weather during the Covid19 lock down has been beautiful. The fresh greens of May are a joy to see. I think this large plein air painting of the mill in Castletown shows off spring at her finest.

This is beautiful Ballyfin House in its stunning setting. What struck me about this view is the fabulous clear spring light.  Another painting completed during the Covid lockdown.

On a recent early morning walk near home I saw this fabulous sunrise. I decided to try capture it.

 The idea for this painting came from the instinctive and hormonal reaction of some of the teenage lads to the girls about to cross their path. I just had to attempt to capture that moment.

Aghaboe Abbey - recent commission

Aghaboe Abbey - Oil on canvas (50cm x 70cm)

This commission was painted from a series of plein air drawings made at the Abbey.  In recent times conservation work has been carried out to protected the Abbey for the future.  I have very fond memories of play around the ruins as a child.
